Crouching down near a small stream in the forest Lena bent down. Bringing the cool water to her lips letting her guard down briefly. It had been a long trek from district nine to ten the wilderness unforgiving. She had the training and knowledge to survive so death wasn’t even plaguing her thoughts. What plagued her mind was much more sinister than not finding water to drink. Pulling out her canteen she filled it up quickly and rinsed her face a bit. Today she was going to make her way in to a district. It was expected she was a spy after all for the capitol.[/blockquote]
Knowing much more than she ever let on to them. If there were some sort of up rising or sorts she’d never tell. The capitol took away from her more than she could have ever expected. On one hand she wasn’t sure what all she took away but from reading other files they took something. Something that would make her unidentifiable to even her own mother it had been traumatic. Now the girl of twenty was just pissed off trying to see if anyone sort of recognized her moving from district to district through Halo’s. If they were shut off due to the time she’d keep on moving by foot.
It was funny how so many people were scared to walk passed the boundaries. She couldn’t blame them the Capitol from what she gained had pressured them not to. If only they knew what was at their fingertips… They would certainly change their tune and quick. The Halo’s were very convenient even too Lena. More so because she has a map in her head of every Halo that exists. They allowed people to jump from District to District in mere seconds. If there ever was a commotion in a District people would murmur how peacekeepers go there so fast well that was how. Just cause the people can’t go past the boundaries doesn’t mean the Capitol plays by the same rules.
Lena had seen it so many times in the past six months she was out of the hellhole called D-13. Even if she told people that the capitol was doing experiments there no one would believe her. Or if they did couldn’t do a single thing about it being just one person. She couldn’t even talk about it to fellow spies who she could pin point in a second. If they looked sneaky and were poking around a bit too much they were usually like her. None of them so far being a rogue like her or at least she hadn’t discovered it yet. It was hard to let her guard down because if they weren’t against the capitol better believe they would haul you in. She couldn’t afford going back possibly it would drive her to madness being locked up again.
Pulling herself out of her thoughts she began to make her way inside the district. Knowing some of the tricks from the capitol getting in was easy. Slipping her way inside she made a small dash for clothes. Even if they didn’t fit her it was crucial she blend in so no questions start to arise. Most districts were tight knit communities anyway but really if someone looks just like would you really give them a second glance? Some do but most just go about their business not wanting to disturb the life that they have. It may not be much but it’s something and Lena respected that.
Grabbing a couple clothes from different lines she left a couple small coins in thanks. She knew most of these people didn’t have much to being with. And how rude would it have been just stealing from people she wanted to help. Changing in a small alley putting on the shirt and pants quickly. She didn’t care if she was spotted with only a bra and panties on but didn’t want to make this a show. Her boots stayed on her feet, taking down her hair so the long waves could cover her face if need be. It was then she made her way in to the square looking around the place it seemed jumping with life.
Hazel eyes danced as she watched things being traded between people. She knew this wasn’t always the case most people didn’t have money for these type of items. It was always the richer side of town that had most of the luxuries. Buying a couple things here and there she might need like bandages just in case something went awry. It never hurt to be prepared when you’re traveling by foot from district to district alone. Although she knew how to make a weapon out of most anything so being by herself didn’t bother her. Sweeping around the square making her rounds to every shop as not to miss anything.
By the time she was done looking about it was late afternoon. She decided to sit down by a farm and watch the cattle be herded across the field. Taking small bites out of the bread she purchased. It wasn’t much and she could get much more out in the forest. But for now it would be plenty to fill up her stomach. Stretched out she let her backrest on a tree watching everything going on. Her butt was so used to sitting on the ground she could imagine sitting in chairs anymore. Taking in a breath she knew her life of running was so much better than sitting in a district you hated. She felt bad for the people in some ways the capitol freed her from that kind of life. Hearing someone approach she tried to look as natural as could be. But really she stuck out because someone always had something to do. Sitting around wasn’t a thing that was common in such a hands on district like this.
